Salah (Part 1)
In this lesson, we will focus on Salah, which is the second pillar of Islam. We will explore the role of prayer in the life of a Muslim, the requirement to pray 5 times a day and Sunni/Shi'a differences in practice. We will also look at different types of prayer (obligatory, optional etc.).
Salah (Part 2)
In this lesson, we will focus on Salah, which is the second pillar of Islam. We will explore the specific focus on public vs private prayer, Jumu'ah and Du'a and about preparation for prayer (wudu).
Zakah
In this lesson, we will focus on Zakah, which is the third pillar of Islam. We will explore the role of Zakah, calculation of Zakah, who Zakah is given to and Khums in Shi'a Islam.
Sawm
In this lesson, we will focus on Sawm, which is the fourth pillar of Islam. We will explore the requirement to fast during the month of Ramadan, other obligations alongside fasting and the importance of fasting.
Recap and practice
In this lesson, we will focus on reviewing content of the first four of the Five Pillars of Islam. We will answer some examination style questions and a return to the key concepts.
Hajj (Part 1)
In this lesson, we will focusing on Hajj, which is the fifth pillar of Islam. We will explore the meaning behind the rituals of Hajj with a recap of the story of Hagar, Ishmael, Ibrahim and Sarah).
Hajj (Part 2)
In this lesson, we will focus on Hajj, which is the fifth pillar of Islam. We will explore the rituals of Hajj (Mecca, Mina, Muzdalifah, Arafat, Jamarat, Id-ul-Adha).
Ten obligatory acts
In this lesson, we will focus on the ten obligatory acts of Shi'a Islam. We will explore the 10 obligatory acts of Shi'a Islam and why Shi'a Muslims have additional acts alongside the five pillars.
Jihad
In this lesson, we will focus on Jihad. We will explore the importance of jihad for the life of a Muslim and greater and lesser jihad.
Festivals
In this lesson, we will focus on festivals. We will learn about the origins of festivals and all about Id-ul-Fitr, Id-ul-Adha and Ashura (both Sunni and Shi'a).
Revision
In this lesson, we will focus on reviewing what we have covered during our lessons in this unit. We will revise the five pillars, ten obligatory acts, Jihad and festivals.
Exam practice
In this lesson we will focus on applying knowledge to exam style questions. We will have a specific focus on answering examination questions from the unit, including different examination boards as much as possible.
Deliberate practice
In this lesson, we will focus on reviewing the whole unit of work. We will complete deliberate practice of key words and quotations from the unit, including specific explanations of the meaning of key words and the meaning of quotations.
