To learn how electrical products meet the needs of users
In this lesson, we will discuss, investigate and, where practical, disassemble different examples of relevant battery-powered products. We will analyse these products and understand how these products meet the needs of the user. This lesson includes some physical activity and equipment beyond pen, paper or pencil. Please make sure your child is adequately supervised.
To develop a design criteria
In this lesson, we will develop a design brief within a context which is authentic and meaningful. We will discuss the purpose of the battery-powered products and who they will be for.
To design an electrical circuit diagram
In this lesson, we will use annotated sketches and exploded diagrams to develop, model and communicate our ideas for an electrical circuit.
To know how to construct simple series circuits
In this lesson, we will learn how to make manually controlled, simple series circuits with batteries and different types of switches, bulbs and buzzers. We will use CAD diagrams. We will find out which of the components in the circuit are input devices and which are output devices. Please note this lesson will require some additional equipment, beyond a pen, pencil or paper, to fully participate. Please see the equipment slide near the start of the lesson video and make sure your child is adequately supervised if equipment is required.
