﻿Hello, everyone, I hope you're having a great day. I've been busy exploring, I've been busy exploring the concept of half and double, half is sharing a whole, or amount of object into two equal groups. The doubling is adding the same number twice, or two groups of the same thing. Let's see if we can practise that with our fingers. So here we are, I have one finger here. Let's see if we can double it, if I'm going to double it, I have to add one more finger, double one is two. Now to halve two, we need to share the number of fingers to equal groups. Just like this, half of two is one. Let's see if you can help me this time, hold up two fingers, and let's see if we can double two together, by adding another two fingers, double two is four, one two three, four. Now to find out what half of four is, we need to split our fingers into two equal groups, just like this, can you do that? There we are, now let's find out what half of four is. Half of four is two, well done everyone. Today we're going to be exploring doubling half, and here's what you're going to need. You will need a tens frame, that looks a little bit like this. You will also need 10 objects, 10 in a container, and you will also need some number cards, that have all the way up to five. Press pause to go and get those things, and I'll see you in a bit when you are ready. Welcome back everyone, now that you've got your number cards up to five, your tens frame, and your 10 objects for counting, you are ready for today's learning. Let's take a look at our star words. I'm going to say them and you can repeat them after me. Are you ready? Double, half, two, equal, and same, those are our star words for today. Now, let's take a look at my picture, see if you can help me with some questions. There we are, there's a part of the field here. There's a big field, there's one part here, and another part here, and here we have some hay. Wonder if you can use careful counting to count how many bales of hay there are. See if you can count them and shout your answer up to the screen when you're ready. I can hear great counting. Well done everyone, let's see if we can count them together. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, there are 10 bales of hay. Now, here is the question, how many bales of hay would there be if there were half in each field? So we need to separate our bails of hay to put half in one part of the field, and half in another part of the field. How many bales of hay would there be in this part? And how many bails or hay would there be in this part? If we halved 10, do you know? Shout your answer out to the screen if you think you know. Great, I can hear a lot of you working out. Well let's see if we can do that together. I'm going to put the bales of hay in a container, and then we'll see if we can share them out together, using some great counting, you ready? I've got them here, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, and 10. There we are with what? Tell what half of 10 is, can you see? Shout your answer up to this screen if you know what half of ten is. Use the picture to help you. Great, I can hear a lots of you shouting out the answer. Let's count together, one, two, three, four, five, in one part of the field. One, two, three, four, five, in another parts of the field, half of 10 is five, can you say that? Great, now let's take another look at our picture. Now that we know that half of 10 is five, what is double five? Do you know the answer? Shout your answer out to the screen if you know. I can hear a lot of you shouting out the answer. Let's work out what double five is together. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, double five is equal to 10. Can you say that? Great, you're doing some fantastic learning today, give yourselves two claps. So half of 10 is equal to five, and double five is equal to 10, great stuff, guys. Now, let's move on to some more learning, using our tens frame. Okay, I'll put it here on the table, and I'll show you what we're going to do, here we are. Okay, I'm going to go to my container, and I'm going to see using my cards, and I will turn one over, here we go. Number two, so I'm going to count out two objects from my container, and put them here, one, two, and there we are. Now, the question is, what is double two? How can we find that out? Shout your answer out to the screen if you know. Great, I can hear a lot of you shouting out the answer. Here's what we're going to do. So we have put two cubes on the bottom row of our tens frame. We're going to use the top row of our tens frame to double our two, by adding another two. There we are, now we've doubled two. We have two groups of the same amount of objects. What is double two? Shout your answer up to the screen if you know. Great, I can hear a lot of you shouting out the answer. Let's count them together, one, two, three, four, double two is four, can you say that? Great, now let's take another look at our tens frame. Now that we know that double two is four, we can find out what half of four is, just by looking at the top half of our tens frame. Can you find out what the half of four is? Can you shout out the answer? I can hear a lot of you shouting out the answer. Let's count them to find out what half of four is, so we're going to use the top half of our tens frame, and count the cubes, one, two, half of four is two. Can you say that? Great, so double two is equal to four, and half of four is equal to two. It's great learning everyone, let's see if we can turn over another number card. Wow, here we are, what's this number? Well done, everybody, so I'm going to count out three cubes for my bowl, here we go, one, two, three. Now to find out what double three is, what do you think I need to do on the top row? Shout you out answer on to screen if you know. Great, I need to add another three, to the top row of my tens frame, one, two, three, and there we have it, we have doubled three, what's the answer? What is double three? I can hear a lot of you shouting out the answer. Let's count them together, one, two, three, four, five, six, double three is equal to six, can you say that? Well done everybody, now let's have a look. Now that we know what double three is, let's see. Can we work out what half of six is? Shout your answer out to the screen if you know. Great, I can hear a lot of you shouting out the answer. Let's have a look, so to find out what half of six is, we just need to count objects at the top half, of our tens frame or the bottom half. Let's use the top one, two, three, half of six is three, can you say that? Well done everybody, give yourselves two claps. You're doing a great job at this. Now it's your turn, I'm going to hold up a number card, and let's see, if you can count out, these amount of objects onto your tens frame, and then find out what double the amount is. Once you've done that, see if you can also find out, what half of the total is, please pause to go and do that, and I'll see you in a bit when you're ready. Welcome back, everyone, did you find out what double five was? And then did you manage to find out what half of the total was? Well done, give yourselves two pats on the back, you're doing a great job. Now, see if you can practise finding, doubling and halving, with your number cards, turn them over, see what number you get, count out the amount of objects onto your tens frame, and then find out what double the amount is, and then find out what half is. Before you go, I've got one more question for you, got to keep here, there we are. I'm also going to show you two towers, one here, and another tower here. Which tower is double the amount of my cube here? Which tower, the first one or the second one, is double the amount of my cube here? Shout your answer out to the screen if you know.
