﻿Hello, I'm Adam. And this is Panda. And we are on lesson 10 from unit four. Using the story, "The Three Billy Goats Gruff." Let's see what's on the agenda today. So for our warm up today, we're going to start with some lullabies, some nursery rhyme lullabies and then after that, we're going to get to work because we've got to get you ready for your independent telling of our new story. But don't worry, we're going to do lot's of things, we'll look at the map, we'll sing the story, we'll go through all the actions and all the words you'll need and you can tell the story in your own way. So, lots to do in this lesson, so let's start with a warm up. We've learned a lot of nursery rhymes together during these units. But the three I'm going to do now are all lullabies. Songs that would have been sung to babies to try and get them to sleep as the babies were being rocked. We like this, don't we Panda? The very quiet and peaceful songs. And you might know some of these already. So thee short ones, I'll sing twice. And when I sing it the second time it'd be really nice if you could join in, out loud or in your head. This one is imagining there's a baby in a basket, a cradle, left in a tree and the wind perhaps is blowing the branches and rocking the child. ♪ Hush-a-bye baby, on the treetop ♪ ♪ When the wind blows, the cradle will rock ♪ ♪ When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall ♪ ♪ Down will come baby, cradle and all ♪ With me. ♪ Hush-a-bye baby, on the treetop ♪ ♪ When the wind blows, the cradle will rock ♪ ♪ When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall ♪ ♪ Down will come baby, cradle and all ♪ ♪ Hush, little baby don't say a word ♪ ♪ Daddy's going to buy you a mocking bird ♪ ♪ And if that mocking bird won't sing ♪ ♪ Daddy's going to buy you a diamond ring ♪ ♪ And if that diamond ring turns to brass ♪ ♪ Daddy's going to buy you a looking glass ♪ ♪ And if that looking glass gets broke ♪ ♪ Daddy's going to buy you a billy goat ♪ ♪ And if that billy goat runs away ♪ ♪ Daddy's going to buy you a brand dew day ♪ ♪ Bye, baby bunting ♪ ♪ Mama's gone a hunting ♪ ♪ Gone to get to fairy rock ♪ ♪ To tuck the little baby up. ♪ ♪ Bye baby bunting ♪ ♪ Mama's gone a hunting ♪ ♪ Gone to get a fairy rock ♪ ♪ To wrap the little baby up ♪ ♪ To wrap the little baby up ♪ That was a nice peaceful way to start the lesson. Well, Panda and I were over here, we thought a good place to start would be with a story map. We all learn stories in different ways and this is a very visual way of looking at the story. So, we of course started with "The Three billy Goats Gruff" in the story in the first part of the unit. Who had to cross a bridge where there was a troll but that's all changed now because we've recycled the story. So now we've got three fancy frilly goats and they like wearing fancy things. The little one wears fancy hats, the middle size one wears fancy frocks and the big one wears fancy frilly scarfs. But of course the problem is there's a dragon now. They don't want to go and get the grass, they want to go shopping. But they can't go shopping because of the Tinseltown dragon. So the first frilly goat sets off trip trapping. When he gets to the bridge, the dragon jumps out, we are told. And says, "I'm going to eat you up hot, warm or cold." The little one throws the hat and the Tinseltown dragon grabs that hat quick. But when she puts it on, it doesn't quite fit. The next one, the middle size one, goes trip trap trapping to the bridge, the troll jumps out, so we are told and says, "I'm going to eat you up hot, warm or cold." He says, "Don't eat me, have this frock. The Tinseltown dragon grabs the frock quick. But she puts it on it doesn't quite fit. So she's getting very upset and frustrated the Tinseltown dragon, and then the big one comes and trip trap trapping across the bridge. The Tinseltown dragon so we're told, jumps out and says, "I'm going to eat you, hot warm or cold." "Don't eat me," says the big one. Wear this scarf. The Tinseltown dragon grabbed that scarf quick but when she put in on it didn't quite fit and she toppled backwards, splash into the river and then she calls after them, "Please let me come shopping with you." And the three fancy frilly goats, they felt sorry for the Tinseltown dragon 'cause she has no friends and she clearly likes fancy frilly things. So they all go to the shops together. So that's the very visual way of seeing the story. So, we've looked at it, let's sing it. ♪ Three frilly goats, fancy and free ♪ ♪ Looked across the river at the shops they could see ♪ ♪ We want to shop, those brothers would cry ♪ ♪ But the dragon under the bridge won't let us by ♪ ♪ We need a plan ♪ ♪ We need a trip trap trapping plan ♪ ♪ The little billy goat crossed the bridge with a skip ♪ ♪ He went trip trap trapping ♪ ♪ Trip trap trip ♪ ♪ The Tinseltown dragon lept out we are told ♪ ♪ And roared I'm going to eat you up ♪ ♪ Hot warm or cold ♪ ♪ Don't eat me, cried the little frilly goat ♪ ♪ And he threw his hat ♪ ♪ And just like that ♪ ♪ The dragon grabbed it quick ♪ ♪ But when the dragon put it on ♪ ♪ It wouldn't fit ♪ ♪ It was the plan ♪ ♪ The middle size billy goat ran double quick ♪ ♪ He went trip trap trapping, trip trap trip ♪ ♪ The Tinseltown dragon, lept out we are told ♪ ♪ And roared I'm going to eat you up ♪ ♪ Hot, warm or cold ♪ ♪ The middle size billy goat said ♪ ♪ Don't eat me, try this frock on ♪ ♪ You'll look good in that ♪ ♪ The dragon grabbed that frock quick ♪ ♪ But when she put it on it didn't fit ♪ ♪ It was all part of the plan ♪ ♪ The big frilly goat went stamp stomp kick ♪ ♪ He went trip trap trapping, trip trap trip ♪ ♪ The Tinseltown dragon lept out we are told ♪ ♪ And roared, I'm going to eat you up ♪ ♪ Hot, warm or cold ♪ ♪ Don't eat me, cried the big frilly goat ♪ ♪ Try this scarf on, you'll look great in that ♪ ♪ The dragon fell in the river, poor thing ♪ ♪ She called out for help ♪ ♪ It was all part of the plan ♪ ♪ And they all went shopping, ♪ ♪ All went shopping together ♪ ♪ It was the plan ♪ So we looked at the map, and that reminded us of how to see the story and we've also sang the song. Now I just want to think a little bit about the language we're going to use. So we spent a lot of time doing actions and now we know that this action reminds us to go, trip trap trapping, trip, trap, trip. We know that this is once upon a time. What was this, when I drew this in the air? They lived on a hill. We also learned the words for describing the Tinseltown dragon, do you remember? ♪ The Tinseltown dragon, was shiny and bright ♪ ♪ She razzled and dazzled a bright blinding light ♪ ♪ She loved to wear diamonds and loved to wear gold ♪ ♪ And she'd eat little frilly goats ♪ ♪ Hot, warm, or cold ♪ Start together. ♪ The Tinseltown dragon was shiny and bright ♪ ♪ She razzled and dazzled a bright blinding light ♪ ♪ She loved to wear diamonds and loved to wear gold ♪ ♪ And she'd eat frilly billy goats ♪ ♪ Hot, warm or cold ♪ Good. When the frilly goats throw their things in the air, do you remember? So the frilly goats... The first one throws the hat. ♪ So the Tinseltown dragon grabbed the hat quick ♪ ♪ But when she tried it on, it didn't quite fit ♪ That'd be good. We're trying to remember those bits. ♪ So the Tinseltown dragon grabbed that frock quick ♪ ♪ But when she put it on, it didn't quite fit ♪ ♪ Don't eat me ♪ Brilliant. Is there anything else you can remember that we did together? I'm going to tell the story one more time. Watch out for the actions and see if you can remember the words that go with them. And then it'll the big challenge. Your challenge, to tell the story in your own way. So for the last time, I'm going to have a go telling the story. And remember, it always comes out a little bit differently. Let's see what happens this time. It's story time, it's story time. Look, listen, learn. Once upon a time, there were three frilly goats who lived on a hill by a river. The smallest, the youngest, liked to wear frilly hats. The middle size one, loved to wear frilly frocks. And the big frilly billy goat loved to wear fancy accessories like scarfs. Now the three fancy frilly goats loved to go shopping. But there was a problem. All the shops on their side of the hill were as dull as mad. They wanted to go the shops in Tinseltown on the other side of the river but there was a problem, a big problem. Because under the bridge lived the dragon, the Tinseltown dragon. The Tinseltown dragon was shiny and bright. She razzled and dazzled bright blinding light. She loved to wear diamonds and loved to wear gold. And she ate frilly billy goats, hot, warm or cold. It was a big problem, a problem that needed a plan. A very clever plan. And it was the middle size billy goat who came up with a plan. The frilly billy oat said, "Brothers, quickly come here. I've got a plan." And he whispered his secret, clever tricky plan. It started with the first frilly goat. He went down to the bridge, he went trip, trap, trapping, trip, trap, trip. He did it with a skip. The Tinseltown dragon lept out, we are told and roared, "I'm going to eat you, hot warm or cold." The little frilly billy goat got his hat and threw it in the air and said, "Wear that frilly hat, you'll look good in that." The Tinseltown dragon, she grabbed that hat quick. But when she put it on, it didn't quite fit. The middle size billy goat came to the bridge. He went trip, trap, trapping, trip, trap, trip. The Tinseltown dragon lept out we are told and roared, " I'm going to eat you up, hot, warm, or cold." The middle size frilly goat got a frock and threw it in the air. "Don't eat me," he says, "Try on that frock. You'd look good in that." The Tinseltown dragon, she grabbed that frock quick. But when she put it on, it didn't quite fit. It was then the turn of the big frilly goat. He came down to the bridge trip, trap, trapping, with a stamp, stomp kick. The Tinseltown dragon lept out, we are told and roared, "I'm going to eat you up, hot, warm or cold." "Don't eat me." Said the big frilly goat. "Try on this scarf, it would really suit you." Well as the dragon reached it and tried to put it on she fell back splash! Into the river. And she started to cry, "Why?", she says, And then she saw the three frilly goats going to town. She called out and asked if she could come. And the three frilly billy goats, when they saw how sad and lonely she was, they took her shopping. And that was the end of that. Well, it always comes out a little bit differently, never quite the same. It's your turn now. You can tell the story in whichever way you want to. You can mime it, you can say some words, you can sing a little bit of it. However you can show the story to your friends, a carer, or your talk teddy. That's what we'd like you to try now. It's your turn to be a storyteller. Time to work. So how was that? How did you tell the story. Every storyteller tells it in their own way. And we at the Oak Academy love to see how you tell stories. So ask your carers and teachers, perhaps they can film your work and they can share it with us here 'cause we'd love to see it. Now Panda and I, we've been really ambitious in the language, the words that we've used. And you may not have used all of them, but you may have used some of them. And even words like razzled and dazzled, we just love using them. So keep on listening out for great storytelling words and try and use them whenever you can. So what have we done today? We sang some relaxing lullabies, we looked at the story map of the three frilly billy goats, we sang the song, I told the story and then you told the story. Panda and I now, we know that you are really good storytellers. So in the next unit, when we try this really exciting tricky story, called, "Mouse Deer", we think you're going to be up for the challenge.
