Goldilocks and the Three Bears

﻿Hello, everyone in today's lesson, we're going to step and speak the story. In this lesson, you will need an exercise book or paper. If you were in our last, last lesson, I have your own story map. If not, don't worry. You can use mine, which I'll put on the screen. And of course, you'll need your brain. Pause the video now, all you go and get your story map. We're going to start today's lesson in the way we always do by singing a nursery rhyme, then we'll step the story and we'll finish by speaking the story. The nursery rhyme we're going to sing today is "London's Burning". You may have say it with me already, but if not, that's okay. You can listen the first time and join in the second. Now, we're going to step the story. Let's go through our story map. You might have yours in front of you, if you were in our last lesson. Or you might need to use mine, which is on the screen. Let's go through the story map and think about what actions we can use when we're step stepping. So our story of course, is "Goldilocks and the Three Bears". And it starts off by saying, once upon a time. And I have a lovely action that I love to use for once upon a time. Once upon a time's the beginning of a story in the middle of a deep green forest. We've been thinking lots about setting. So I think it's important we come up with an action for deep green forest. How about this for the trees above us? Once upon a time, in the middle of a deep green forest, there was a cottage. We always use this one for a house, don't we? There was a cottage. In the cottage, there lived three bears, a daddy bear, a mommy bear, and a baby bear. My hand's, down low you couldn't see it there. And they loved each other lots and lots. And then, it's still in this first section, we go on, don't we? To describe the cottage. Inside the cottage, there were three power porridge bowls. Do we need to do the three? Or should we just do porridge bowls? What do you think? I think I'll just do porridge bowls. Inside the cottage, there were three porridge bowls. The baby bear had a tiny bowl. The mama bear had a middle sized bowl and the daddy bear had a big bowl. Inside the cottage, there were three chairs. I'm going to make my hands into a chair. Can you see that? I've tried to, or, maybe that's better. I tried to make it into a chair, there were three chairs. The baby bear had a tiny chair. The mama bear had a middle-sized chair and the daddy bear had a big chair. Inside the cottage, there were three beds. And I'm going to pretend to be asleep to show that we're talking about a bed. Inside the cottage, there were three beds. The baby bear had a tiny bed, the mommy bear had a middle-size bed, and the daddy bear had a big bed. And that is our first section, isn't it? So, let's come up with actions for the rest of the sections, just here, like this. And then we'll do our stepping. One morning, mama bear cooked porridge for breakfast and poured it into the three bowls. Mine pouring there. It was too hot to eat, so they went for a walk. As they walked through the forest, they sang a song. ♪ With three bears, three bears ♪ ♪ Living in a cottage in the woods ♪ ♪ Three bears, three bears ♪ ♪ Living here together ♪ ♪ Feel so good ♪ While they were out walking, a selfish little girl with golden hair was walking through the forest and singing a song. ♪ Goldilocks, Goldilocks ♪ ♪ What can I steal today ♪ ♪ Maybe some food, maybe some money ♪ ♪ Maybe a game to play ♪ She smelled the porridge, We pretend to sniff. And thought, I am hungry. Maybe that's my breakfast. She followed the smell to the cottage, peeked through a window, lifted the latch and stepped into the cottage. Goldilocks went over, to the kitchen table where the porridge was cooking. First, she tried the porridge in the big bowl, but it was too hot. "Too hot, too hot," she shouted and pouted. Next, she tried the porridge in the middle bowl, but it was too cold. "Too cold," she shouted, and pouted. Finally, she tried the porridge in the tiny bowl. It was just right. "Ah, just right." She smiled and gobbled it up. After that, she thought she would sit down. First she sat on the big chair, but it was too hard. "Too hard," she shouted, and pouted. What could our action be for too hard? That is such a tricky one. What's your action going to be for too hard? I'm going to do too hard. First, she sat down in the big chair, but it was too hard. "Too hard," she shouted, and pouted. Next, she sat down in the middle chair, but it was too soft. "Too soft," she shouted, and pouted. Finally, she sat down in the tiny chair. "Ah, just right." But the girl was too heavy. And the chair fell to pieces and Goldilocks fell to the floor. "Oh, bother," she shouted, and pouted. Goldilocks went upstairs to the bedroom. First she tried the big bed, but it was too high at the head. "Too high," she shouted, and pouted. Next, she tried the middle bed, but it was too low at the head. "Too low," she shouted, and pouted. Finally, she tried the tiny bed. "Ah," she said, "Just right." And she fell asleep. A while later, the three bears came back from their walks, still singing their song. ♪ We're three bears, three bears ♪ ♪ Living in a cottage in the woods ♪ ♪ Three bears, three bears ♪ ♪ Living here together feels so good ♪ They lifted the latch, and went into their cottage. Fast, they went over to their bowls. "Someone's been eating my porridge," roar daddy bear. "Someone's been eating my porridge," shouted mommy bear. "Someone's been eating my porridge," squeaked baby bear, "And it's all gone!" Baby bear started to cry. Next, they went over to their chairs. I'll put up my chair. Maybe you could come up with a better action for chair. I'm not sure mine's very good. "Someone's been sitting in my chair," roared the daddy bear. "Someone's been sitting in my chair," shouted the mama bear. "Someone's been sitting in my chair," squeak the baby bear. "And it's fallen to pieces!" The baby bear started to cry again. Finally, they went up to the bedroom. "Someone's been sleeping in my bed," roared the daddy bear. "Someone's been sleeping in my bed," shouted the mummy bear. "Someone's been sleeping in my bed, and they're still there!" The three bears roared, and Goldilocks jumped up out of the bed, jumped out of the window, and the three bears never saw her again. Now I'd like you to take a moment to have a look at your story map or mine on the screen and see if you want to use the same actions as me or maybe you've got some better ones that you would prefer to use. Have a think now about what actions you are going to use. Go through the story map and come up with your actions. Pause the video now while you do that. Are you ready to step the story? Remember when we're stepping, we do the actions for a section. Then take a step forward before we do the next set of actions. And another step, and another step, and so on. Now if you don't have very much room like me, you can step on the spot. Or if you have lots of room, you can take actual steps forward. And remember to take a step in between each section. Pause the video now, while you do your stepping and resume once you're finished. Now it's time to tell the story. Instead of singing, fetch the water, I sang, pour on water. And that's because I was having a conversation with somebody yesterday about the nursery rhyme, "London's burning". And I was saying, I was going to be singing with you today. And we realised that we both knew slightly different versions. And nursery rhymes, a lot of them, because they are so old and they exist in lots of different countries, lots of different parts of the country. There are lots of different versions because different people tell them slightly different. And that's exactly the same as traditional tales like "Goldilocks And The Three Bears". You might know a version or your grownups might know a version, or your friends might know version that is slightly different to the version that we are learning. I would love you to see if anybody knows a different version of either "London's Burning" or "Goldilocks And The Three Bears" or another nursery rhyme in your house. See you next time. Bye, bye.
