Fox's Sack

﻿Hello everyone. And welcome to the first lesson on the Fox's Sack. My name is Miss Frost, and I am going to be your teacher for your English lessons over the next unit. During our time learning about the Fox's Sack, we are going to be thinking all about action, which is a really really important part of our storytelling, because action is telling us all about what happens in the story. It tells us all about what is happening to the characters, why it is happening. So it's so so important for us to understand action to become amazing storytellers. Let's dive right in and see what's we're going to be doing today. In today's lesson, you are going to need a piece of paper, a pencil, your Teddy talk partner and your thinking brain. So if you need to go and get any of those things, press the pause button now and press the play button when you're ready. Coming up in today's lesson, we are going to start off doing some singing together. Then we're going to listen to a new story, and then we're going to be thinking about what we have heard in the story. Let's start off by singing if you can help me and Teddy sing one of our favourite songs. We're going to sing the wheels on the bus. Are you ready? I wonder if at home you can have a go at singing a few more verses. You might be able to add on what some different people do on the bus. I'm thinking of some actions that they could do, it would be lovely to see all of your ideas. We are now ready to listen to our story. Our story today is from England and this is a story called, the Fox's Sack. I wonder what the Fox will have inside his sack. What do think he might have? What is going to happen to his sack? Let's listen really closely and I find out. Are you ready to join in with that story chance? It's story time, story time, look listen wow. Once upon a time, there was a hungry Fox with an empty sack. He said, "I wish my bag was full of food" Just then a bee buzzed pass. The Fox grabbed the bee and popped it into his sack. He put the sack over his shoulder and he walked down the road singing. ♪ Nobody knows it. Nobody knows it. ♪ ♪ Nobody knows what's in my sack, but me. ♪ ♪ Nobody knows it. Nobody knows it. ♪ ♪ Nobody knows what's in my sack, but me. ♪ He came to a house and knocked on the door. A short lady opened the door. "Hello, Mr. Fox?", she said a little frightened. Hello. He said, "I need a place to keep my sack "while I visit my friend. Can I leave it here?" "Okay?", she asked nervously. But whatever you do, don't look in the sack. What's in it? Just don't look. He put the sack down in her room and he went away. She stared at the sack singing her song, ♪ I want to know. I really want to know. ♪ ♪ I really want to know what's in the sack. ♪ ♪ I want to know. I really want to know. ♪ ♪ I really want to know what's in the sack. ♪ She tip-toed over and opened the sack. Oh came the bee. Later the Fox came back. "Here's your sack", said the short lady. Where's my bee? "Well, the bee flew out of the sack "and my chicken ate it", said the woman. "Well then I'll take your chicken", said the Fox. And he picked it up and popped it in his sack. He trotted off to the next house in the street and knocked on the door. A tall lady answered, "Yes." Hello. He said, "I need to leave my sack somewhere "while I visit my friend. Can I leave it here?" "Okay", she said nervously. But whatever you do, don't look in the sack. What's in it? Just don't look. He put the sack down in her room and went away. She stared at the sack, singing her song, ♪ I want to know. I really want to know. ♪ ♪ I really want to know what's in the sack. ♪ ♪ I want to know. I really want to know. ♪ ♪ I really want to know what's in the sack. ♪ She tip toed over and she opened the sack. Out jumped a chicken, out into the yard and away down the road went the chicken chased by the tall lady's pig. Later, the Fox came back. "Here's your sack?", said the tall lady. "Where's my chicken?", said the Fox. "It flew out of the sack and my pig chased it away," said the tall woman. "Well then I'll take the pig", said the Fox. He picks it up, put it in his sack. He trotted off to the next house in the street and he knocked on the door. A thin lady answered, "Yes." Hello. He said, "I need a place to keep my sack "while I visit my friend. Can I leave it here?" "Okay", she said nervously. But whatever you do, don't look in my sack. What's in it? Just don't look. He put the sack down in her room and went away. She stared at the sack singing her song, ♪ I want to know. I really want to know. ♪ ♪ I really want to know what's in the sack. ♪ He tip toed over and she opened the sack. Out jumped a pig. Her little boy chased the pig away down the road. Later, the Fox came back. "Here's your sack", said the thin woman. "Where's my pig?", said the Fox. "It jumped out of the sack and my son chased it away", said the thin woman. "Well then I'll take your son", said the Fox. And he picked up the boy and put him in his sack. He trotted off down the street to the next house and he knocked on the door. Another lady answered, "Yes." Hello. He said, "I need a place to leave my sack "while I visit my friend. Can I leave it here?" "Okay", she said nervously. But whatever you do, don't look inside the sack. What's in it? Just don't look. He put the sack down in her room, and he went away. She stared at the sack singing her song, ♪ I want to know. I really want to know. ♪ ♪ I really want to know what's in the sack. ♪ But I won't look. The lady started making biscuits with her two daughters, mixing the butter, cutting out the shapes. And soon the biscuits were baking in the oven. And a lovely smells going around the house. "Mom, I want a biscuit", said her daughter. "Me too", said a voice from the sack. The lady opened the sack and out jumped a boy. Mr. Fox put me in there. "You go and hide under the bed", she said. And she called her big black dog to come. She put him in the sack. Mr. Fox came back and picked up the sack and walked away. He heard a groan from the sack. I'm hungry. He thought time to eat the boy. He put the sack down, he put his pull in. "He bit me", shouted Mr. Fox. The dog jumped out, chased Mr. Fox into the woods, then bite him on the tail. Oh said Mr. Fox, "That hurt" The Fox went into his den and we're safe but so the dog went home and they all ate the cookies altogether. The Fox sat in his lair, singing, ♪ Everyone knew. Everyone knew. ♪ ♪ Everyone knew what was in my sack, but me. ♪ ♪ Everyone knew. Everyone knew. ♪ ♪ Everyone knew what was in my sack, but me. ♪ And there we have come to the end of our story, The Fox's Sack. So what did you think of our story today? It was a new story, The Fox's Sack. Let's see what Teddy thought. Teddy what did you think of our story, The Fox's Sack? Oh Teddy loved our story, but he's a little bit confused. Tell me Teddy, what are you confused about? Teddy is really confused. And I wonder if you can help us out at home. Teddy is confused. He doesn't understand why the Fox kept taking the people's things and putting them in his sack. Why did the Fox keep on putting the people's things in his sack? Can you, do you know? Shall I tell you? Because Mr. Fox was very, very greedy. He was trying to take those people's things so he could get something bigger and bigger and bigger for his dinner. It started out with a very, very small little, can you remember? A little tiny bee that buzzed then he took a chicken. Then he took a little pig and then he took the boy. Teddy's got another question for us. Teddy would like to know why did the last lady not look in the bag? Well, the Fox told her not to, didn't he? Maybe she was just trying to be kind to the Fox. Maybe she already knew what was in the bag she had guessed. Ted says, why did the lady then put the Chrisley dog in? Do you know why she put the Chrisley dog in? What did she want to do to Mr. Fox? She wanted to trick him. Didn't she? She wanted to trick him like he had tricked her. That's why, I wonder if you had been given Mr. Fox's sack, would you have looked inside? Would you have looked Teddy? Have a think. Now that me and Teddy have talked about the story, we would love to tell you our favourite parts. So my favourite part of the story is when the Fox puts his hand into the sack and he finds out that there's actually a chrisley dog in there. This is my favourite part of the story because the Fox spent the whole story, trying to trick the ladies that he met. And I thought that was a little bit mean of the Fox. So I loved it when they got to trick him back and they put a chrisley dog in his sack instead. Now that me and Teddy have told you all favourite parts of the story, I wonder if you can press the pause button and tell us your favourite part. When you're ready, press the play button. Wow. Me and Teddy were blown away. So many of you like so many different parts. We're coming to the end of lesson one and off new unit. The Fox's sack now.
