﻿We're going to begin this lesson with some singing, then we'll talk about the new learning as we learn to count to five. I'll have a talk task for you to practise your new learning, and then we'll develop your understanding of counting to five together again before you do some independent learning. So, let's find out what you need. Everything you need is on this screen right now. You need the printed worksheet, some blocks, maybe like the Lego ones I've got on the screen, some scissors, if you parent or carer will supervise you, and says it's okay for you to have them. And then I'd like you to have some paint, and paper to paint on. If you haven't got these things right now, pause the video, go and find them, and then come back to me for the rest of your learning. See you in a few minute. Welcome to your maths lesson with me, Mrs. Harris. In this lesson, we'll be learning to count five reliably. I can think of something you might have five of, five fingers on each hand. One, two, three, four, five. Speckle's kind of another way of saying spotty, isn't it? We can see the spots on the log, the speckled log. I thought we'd use them frogs to help us with our counting today. And so I'm going to ask them to come back. Come back frogs. Ooh, how many frogs have come back? That's right, we've got one frog. He's even got the number one on to help us, hasn't he? There's just one frog sat on the speckled log. Maybe one of his friends might come along too. Here's another frog and together, how many frogs do we have? That's right, we have two frogs altogether now. What would we have if another one came along? Here's another one frog. And altogether, it makes three. Not sure? Let's go back to the beginning, and count them as they come together. We've got one, two, three frogs. I know there's three frogs because three is the last number I said, and that represents the whole number of frogs right now. But along comes another frog. Here is, we've got how many frogs now? Show me on your fingers. We've got four frogs now. I think another one might be coming. So, we have five frogs altogether. Let's check from the beginning. One, two, three, four, five. Wow, we're really good at counting forwards. I wonder if we can count backwards as well? So, remember, how many frogs have we got now? We have five frogs altogether. One's going to jump into the pool where it is nice and cool. Ooh, he's gone. How many frogs are left on the log? One, two, three, four. There's four frogs left on the log. The frog with the number one on has jumped into the pool. And he's left us with just four frogs. Here goes another one. Two frogs have jumped into the pool, how many are left? One, two, three. Okay, I think another one's going to jump into the pool. There goes another frog. Point to the frogs on the screen, how many are left? One, two, there are two frogs left. One, and there's the two. But one jumped, didn't it? Come back there he is. There's our two frogs that were left. And I think this one's going to jump into the pool again now. Leaving us with how many frogs on the log? That's right, just one frog. We had five, didn't we? Now, we've just got a lonely one frog. Maybe he should jump into the pool where it is nice and cool to be with his friends. But when he does, how many frogs will I have on the log? I'll have no frogs on the log, just like now. Great counting forwards, and counting backwards, everyone. Good job, give me five. Do you know why we say give me five? It's because we have five fingers . You can think of the number five whenever anybody says that to you. Now, I've asked my friend Vale here to help me with our talk task, so you know exactly what to do. Well, you're going to need the worksheet with all the pictures of the speckled frogs on. It would be great if you could cut it up as well. Remember, under the supervision of your grownups. And all you need to do is cut along the lines. I don't want the individual frogs cut out, that would take ages. And when you've done that, I'd like you to turn them over, so you can't see. So, all my frogs are covered up. It's a bit like turning them over. But now, I'm going to turn one over so I can see the frogs on it. Okay, Vale's going to have a look. Hmm, he's going to count how many frogs are on the card. One, two, three, four, five. There are five frogs, that's what he told me. He counted them, one, two, three, four, five. And then he said to me, "There are five frogs." But he's got a job for me to do now.

We need five counters. So, I need to find him five counters. Okay, one, two, three, four, five. There you go, Vale, five counters.

Thank you . So, that's what you need to do in your talk task when you pause the video. You can't see me for this part of the learning, but you can see my paint and my paper ready to do some developing of our understanding, as we learn to write the number five in paint, and paint five objects. The first thing I'm going to do so you can see it really clearly is how to write the number five. So, to write the number five, we go down, round, and pop its hat on. Did you see that? Down, round, pop a hat on, and we've written the number five. But I used my pen, didn't I? And I said you might want paint. Let's paint the number five. I've got some water as well. So, I'm going to paint the number five. And as I paint the number five, down, round, and put on a hat. Ooh, you can't see that one too well. Let me do another one. Can you remember how I said it? Down, round, put on a hat. There's my other number five. I've got a red number five, two black number fives, and I've got a blue number five. I think I'd quite like a green one now. Down, round, and put on the hat. They look great. I bet you can see yours a bit better than we can see mine. But I've also said we'd paint five objects. I'm going to start with painting five spots. One, two, three, four, five. Oh, that was nice. Now, I think I'll paint, five, hmm, five butterflies. Okay, let me check that you'll be able to see my butterflies. I'll do them up here. I'm going to start with their tummies. There, the bit in between their wings. One, two, three. Four. And five. Now, I need their wings. I think I'll have some red wings. Some blue wings. Hmm, we'll have some green-winged butterflies. And an orange, definitely want an orange butterfly. All right, one can go there. And one last butterfly, let's have another red. Let me just count my butterflies to check. I've got one, two, three, four, five. Let me do this again. One, two, three, four, five. So, I've painted the number five. I've painted five dots, five butterflies. I could paint a really, really, really big number five over here. I could go down, round and put on the hat. I could try and paint a tiny, weeny number five. Down, round, put on the hat. I could paint five of anything I like. And I can even write the word five as well. I can write five. So now, you need to pause the video, and you need to make your painting of five. I hope you got on really well with your five painting. Did you get the number formation right?
