Well, hello my musical friends, how are you today? We're going on our very first adventure into the woodlands today. Would you like to come with me? Okay, let me tell you what we're going to do. The first thing we're going to discover is some paw prints, then we're going to sing along with a little songbird, and finally we're going to sing about a birch tree. You will need your singing voice, your imagination and your listening ears. Right then everybody, I'd like you to close your eyes. Are they closed? Let's put our hands over our eyes so we know there's no peeking. And we're going to imagine that we are flying far, far away from this place, we're not sitting in our home anymore. We're going far, far away and we're going to open our eyes in somewhere totally different. It's going to smell different, it's going to feel different and it's definitely going to sound different. Open your eyes in five, four, three, two, one. What a magical place we have ended up in. Look up high, there's lots of green trees and look down below there's all sorts of wonderful plants on the floor. We are deep in the dark woods. Shall we go for a walk? I'd like to see you stamping your feet whenever I play the beat on my ukulele. Shall we give it try? Okay, listening carefully stamping your feet. ♪ Walk, walk, walk, walk ♪ ♪ Walk, walk, walk, walk ♪ ♪ 'Cause we are walking ♪ ♪ Walking in the woods ♪ ♪ 'Cause we are walking ♪ ♪ Walking in the woods ♪ And stop. ♪ I think that somebody else has been here too. ♪ ♪ But can you guess who? ♪ I think I can see some footprints, maybe even some paw prints. Look down on the ground and see these paw prints. Can you see them? They look like they are going ti ti ti ti ti ti ti ti. Oh, ti ti ti ti ti ti ti ti. Who could it be? Who's in the woods as well, it's not just you and me. Who else is here, what do you think? Who's got very small feet, I think it must be an animal. Can you think of an animal that lives in the woods that's got very small feet? Hmm, it could be a small mouse. Hmm, it could be a little bird. Oh, I hope it's a bird. Shall we pretend it's a bird? Okay. So, should we pretend to be a bird now? Shall we go running along? Should we go ti ti ti ti ti ti ti ti? Should we go running in the woods? Oh, that would be lots of fun. Okay, so this time whenever I play my ukulele, I'm not going to play the beat, I'm going to play ti ti ti ti ti ti ti ti rhythm and we can go with our feet, ti ti ti ti ti ti ti ti. Are you ready? Okay. ♪ And we are running ♪ ♪ Running in the woods ♪ ♪ Yes we are running ♪ ♪ Running in the woods ♪ ♪ But stop ♪ ♪ Oh, somebody else I think has been here too ♪ ♪ Can you guess who ♪ Can you see the footprints? Who do you think it is? These footprints go ta ta ta ta. Who do you think it is? Ta ta ta ta. Somebody's got slightly bigger footprints than a bird. So someone's got footprints a little bit bigger, it's definitely an animal still. Hmm, do you think it might be a horse? No, no, that would be really big. Or a pony? No, no, very, very big. Something that's bigger than a bird but smaller than a horse or a pony. Oh, do you think it might be a fox? It could be a fox. I'd like to go for a walk with a fox. I think that would be fun, should we go for a walk with a fox? Okay, are we ready to do our walking? ♪ Walk, walk, walk, walking, walk walking in the woods ♪ ♪ Walking in the woods ♪ ♪ Yes we are walking ♪ Uh oh, wait. ♪ Somebody else had been here too ♪

This person's paw prints go ta, ta. Uh oh, they're really big. Ta, ta. Hmm, now they're not paw prints, they're foot prints which means it's not an animal. It must be a human with big feet. I think it might be the old man that lives in the woods. Don't worry, he's not scary. He's really friendly and we're going to visit him. Okay, so it must be the man. The man, the fox and the bird. Okay, are we ready? We're going to go walking but very slowly like the old man, he can't walk very fast. He just walks very slowly with his walking stick. So we're going to go. ♪ Walking, walking slowly in the woods ♪ ♪ Walking ♪ ♪ We are walking slowly in the woods ♪ ♪ With the old man who goes ta, ta, ta, ta ♪ ♪ And the fox who goes ta ta ta ta, ♪ ♪ Ta ta ta ta, ta ta ♪ ♪ And the bird who goes ti ti ti ti ti ti ti ti ♪ ♪ Ti ti ti ti ti ti ti ti ♪ ♪ Well done everyone ♪ We're here in the woods with our friend the fox, our friend the songbird and the old man who lives in a little cottage. Those are our friends in the woods. Now, the songbird is desperate to teach you a song. Would you like to learn it? Okay, the songbird has got very colourful feathers and a very colourful beak. Can you listen to what colour they are? ♪ I saw a little songbird ♪ ♪ Singing in the tree ♪ ♪ I saw a little songbird ♪ ♪ Singing just for me ♪ ♪ His feathers were blue and his beak was black ♪ ♪ And he made a little face that went like this ♪ ♪ He sang up high in the tree all day ♪ ♪ But I don't really know what he's trying to say ♪ ♪ He went du du du bi du ♪ ♪ Du du du bi du du ♪ ♪ Oh, and so we all sang du du du bi du, du du du bi du du ♪ Did you like the song that the songbird sang? Shall we try again? It goes du du du bi du, du du du bi du du. Your turn, let's all sing du du du bi du, du du du bi du du. Did you hear what colour his feathers were? That's right, blue and his beak was black. And he made a little face that went like, what? Can you remember? I made a very silly face. Like this, very good. This time I would like you to make a silly face when I make a silly face. You could do a different face if you like. Listen carefully, it's going to be different colours this time. ♪ I saw a little songbird ♪ ♪ Singing in the tree ♪ ♪ I saw a little songbird ♪ ♪ Singing just for me ♪ ♪ His feathers were yellow and his beak was blue ♪ ♪ He made a little face that went like this ♪ Don't forget to make a silly face. ♪ He sang up high in the tree all day ♪ ♪ But I don't really know what he's trying to say ♪ ♪ He sang du bi du bi du, du bi du bi du bi du du ♪ That was different. ♪ So we all sang du bi du bi du, du bi du bi du du. ♪ Well done, did you copy the song? It was a bit different this time. Did you listen what colour was it? His feathers were yellow and his beak was blue, well done. And what did his silly face look like? Did you make a silly face? Very good. And his song was different. This time I would like you to sing a song and we'll all copy, me, Teddy, Mr. Owl, we'll all copy. Sure you'll copy? Okay, we'll try anyway. We'll sing it in our thinking voice when we copy you though. Are we ready? Okay. Ready, steady, off we go. ♪ We saw a little song bird ♪ ♪ Singing in the tree ♪ ♪ We saw a little songbird ♪ ♪ Singing just for me ♪ ♪ His feathers were ♪ What colour do you think? ♪ And his beak was ♪ ♪ And he made a little face that went like ♪ ♪ He sang up high in the tree all day ♪ ♪ But I don't really know what he's trying to say ♪ ♪ He sang ♪ ♪ And then we all sang ♪ Did you make up a silly song? It was the best one I think we've heard, don't you think Teddy? Yes, that was the best song we've heard all day. Well done everyone. Now that was quite a tricky song. You might want to listen to it a few more times, and you can put in your own ideas for the colour of the feathers, the colour of the beak, your own little song and your own silly face. You can pause the video now and try and sing the song a few more times. Sometimes when the wind is blowing through the leaves in the trees it sounds a little bit like they're whispering. Have you brought your whispering voice? Yes I have, yes I have. Have you brought your speaking voice? Yes I have, yes I have. ♪ Have you brought your singing voice? ♪ ♪ Yes I have, yes I have. ♪ This song is about a beautiful tall tree called a birch tree. See the little birch in the meadow. Would you like to sing it high or low? Is your silver birch tree really tall or just a baby? Well, what a fun adventure we've had in the woodland today. Shall we try and remember all the different things we did today? The first thing we did was we went for a walk and we spotted lots of different paw prints and footprints in the woods. Then we sang a really fun song with a cheeky little songbird, and finally we sang a beautiful song all about a little birch tree.
