I was just doing a spot of cleaning. I love to clean, and I like to keep things tidy. Do you? Great. Me and you are gonna get along just find then. In this unit, we are going to be learning about staying clean and how to keep clean. I wonder what we will be looking at today. Shall we get started? Well, I didn't hear you? Shall we get started? I think I need my ears cleaned. Shall we get started? Let's go then! In today's lesson, you will need: your favourite Teddy, a piece of paper and a pencil. Pause the video and find your items. Come back soon. In this unit, we are going to be learning some daily habits. Do you know what that means? Daily habits are things that you need to do every day. And today, we are going to be thinking about how to stay clean with our clothes. Shall we find out why? Our clothes are needed to protect our body. They protect us from heat, they protect us from feeling cold, and they protect us from the rain, so you don't get wet. We should always wear neat and clean clothes. They keep us healthy and looking good and feeling fresh. Wearing dirty clothes means you are going to look really messy. From this, you're going to have very smelly clothes. All of this means you are not going to feel your best, and so you might feel a little bit insecure, which means you are not going to feel good about yourself. You say that word, insecure. Yes, what does that mean again? Means you're not going to feel your best. Great. But how can you tell your clothes are dirty? Well, firstly, you could have some food spilled on it, or some drink, or anything that you've been eating, something sticky, maybe, like sweets, or maybe that you've been playing outside and you've got mud and dirt all over your clothes. That tells you that your clothes are dirty. Finally, you might be wearing it for quite a few days. When was the last time you changed your clothes? Today! Wow, that's great. I wonder if you could play this game with me. Can you pick out the dirty clothes from this picture? How many dirty clothes can you spot? Count them out and tell the screen. Is it two, four, or six? Pause the video and tell Teddy. Let's count them together. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Did you get that hole? Excellent. Good spotting. How can we clean our clothes? Do you know? Could we, A, put it out on a washing line, B, put them in a washing machine, or C, put them in a bin liner? Pause the video and tell Teddy. You are right, we put it in the washing machine. There are some steps we need to follow to get your clothes cleaned. First, we need to load the washing machine with dirty clothes with a help of a parent or carer and start a cycle after adding some soap. Once they are washed, we need to dry them because we can't wear wet clothes. To keep them clean and neat, we need to fold them and put them away in our wardrobe, ready to wear for the next time. There we have it, how to get our clean clothes. Oh, there's just so much work to do. All this dirty laundry that needs to be washed, all these dirty dishes in the sink. I need some help. Can you help me, children? You've learned all about how to keep clean and how to clean your dirty clothes. Oh, you can't! Well, you don't have to be here to help me. Let me explain. The way you can help is to let me know which clothes I need to put in the washing machine. You are going to need your pen and paper for this, and I need you to draw me a washing machine, a bit like this. You're going to do: a long line down the paper, then go across, and then all the way up again, and join it up. What shape have I made there? A rectangle. Excellent! Now we've got that. I'm going to draw a circle, and it's going to be a big one to fit all my dirty clothes. Pause the video and do that for me, please. Excellent. So now I need to add in a little compartment to put my soup in and some buttons, so I know which cycle to start. Pause the video and add those details. Great. Now I need your help. So to do that, I need you to have a look at my picture, and what dirty clothes do you see that need to be washed in the washing machine? I can spot one. Yes, a t-shirt. So I've placed one piece of dirty clothing in my washing machine. Can you spot any others? Great. I would like you to pause the video and draw in the rest of the dirty clothes that need to go in the washing machine. Excellent. Now that you are done, you could write the words to the clothes that are in the washing machine using your phonics. I'm going to do the word, skirt! Ss-kk-rr-tt, skirt. Use your phonics to write it. Ss-kk-rr-tt, skirt. Pause the video and have a go at writing the rest of them. To help me, you need to first draw your washing, then draw in the dirty clothes and write the words underneath.
