Today we're going to learn to use our voice in different ways, to identify high and low sounds from our home, to identify sounds by listening, to do actions for high and low sounds. In this lesson you will need your body, give us a wave, your voice, say hello and a piece of paper. Pause the video to go and get a piece of paper and a pencil now. You can press play again once you're finished. ♪ La la la la la ♪ ♪ La la la la la ♪ ♪ La la la la la ♪ ♪ La la la la la ♪ Today we're learning about high and low sounds. Can you make your voice go high? ♪ High sounds are up here ♪ ♪ They sound like they're coming out of your head ♪ ♪ And low sounds are down here ♪ ♪ They sound like they're coming from your chest ♪ Can you make your voice go high and low? Can you make it go up and down like a rollercoaster? Woo! Woo! Woo! What kind of high and low sounds can you hear around your house or in your garden? Today you are going to make a list of all the sounds you can hear, and you're going to make sure you put them either in the high sounds category or the low sounds category. What about birds tweeting? Would that be a high sound or a low sound? What about footsteps from a grown up in your house? Would that be a high sound or a low sound? Have a think about all the different sounds you can hear about your house, and then you can write them down on a piece of paper, or draw pictures of them, and say whether they are, ♪ High sounds or low sounds ♪ Draw a table like this on your paper, and go listening for some sounds. Make sure you put them in the right column. You can pause the video to list all of the high sounds and low sounds you can hear in your house or garden now. Press play again once you're finished. Match the sounds to their pitch. Is it a high sound or a low sound? That's right, birds tweeting is a high sound, and thudding footsteps is a low sound. What about a tiger or a mouse? That's right, a tiger is a low sound and a mouse is a high sound. Music is written on five lines. We call them the stave. They're a little bit like a ladder. Can you make your hands look like five lines of a ladder? Good job. We can walk up the ladder, or we can walk down the ladder. When we're at the bottom of the ladder, our sounds are ♪ Low ♪ Can you be at the bottom of the ladder? ♪ Low ♪ ♪ And as we go up the ladder ♪ ♪ Our voice gets higher ♪ ♪ Can you be at the top ♪ ♪ High ♪ ♪ And now back down ♪ ♪ Low ♪ Can you practise climbing up and down the ladder with your voice? Pretend you're on a ladder like this. We're going to go How high up the ladder can you go? Then you can come back down. How low down the ladder can you go? Can you see who in your house ♪ Has the highest voice and who has the lowest voice ♪ Who can go ♪ Highest up the ladder and who can go ♪ ♪ Lowest down the ladder ♪ Have a talk to the people in your house, and see how high or low they can sing. All of our different songs have high notes and low notes. Harry Hare has high notes and low notes. It also has one note in the middle. That means it's got three different notes: one in the middle, one on top, one down the bottom. I'm going to sing it to you now with some actions to show how high or low the notes are. You can see the pattern on the screen. ♪ Ready, off I go ♪ ♪ Harry Hare is in a hurry ♪ ♪ Full of care and full of worry ♪ ♪ Harry Hare is late for tea ♪ ♪ What a naughty Hare is he ♪ Did you notice that some of my notes were up high, some of them were down low on my tummy, and some of them were in the middle on my shoulders. I'm going to do that again now. Well done, you. This time, we can try that again, but we're going to keep the middle sound, the sound that's on our shoulders, in our thinking voice. That means we don't do it out loud.
