﻿Hi everyone, and welcome back to another RHE lesson with me Miss Plummer. The title of today's lesson is Forever Friends. And in this lesson, you'll be thinking about some kind, and maybe some unkind things that might have happened to you and your friends. In this lesson, you will need some paper, pencil, and some coloured pencils. Pause the video now to and find those things. We will start today's lesson by thinking about a friendship chain. Kind things that you could do for other people. Then we're going to read a story about kindness. After that, we're going to think about something that is unkind. And then we're going to think about how it is cool to be kind. Finally, you're going to create a little bucket of kindness. Are we ready? Let's get started. So a friendship chain is something kind that you can do for your friends or people around you. You might look after your little brother or sister or relative, if you have them in your family. You might want to play a new game with a friend, a sibling, another relative. You might even help your parents or carer when they are cooking. Pause the video and think about something kind that you can do for your friends. Oh, that's a lovely idea. I'm sure they'll like that. Our story today is called, "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" Written by Carol McCloud, illustrated by David Messing and published by HarperCollins children's books. All day long, everyone in the whole wide world walks around carrying an invisible bucket. You can't see it, but it's there. You have a bucket. Each member of your family has a bucket. Your grandparents, friends, and neighbours all have buckets. Everyone carries an invisible bucket. Show me your invisible bucket. There it is. Your bucket has one purpose only. It's purpose is to hold your good thoughts and good feelings about yourself. You feel happy and good when your bucket is full, and you feel sad and lonely when your bucket is empty. Other people feel the same way, too. They're happy when their buckets are full and they're sad when their buckets are empty. It's great to have a full bucket and this is how it works... Other people can fill your bucket and you can fill theirs. You can fill your own bucket, too. So, how do you fill a bucket? You fill a bucket when you show love to someone, when you say or do something kind, or even when you give someone a smile. Show me your smile. That's being a bucket filler. A bucket filler is a loving, caring person who says and does nice things to make others feel special. When you treat others with kindness and respect, you fill their bucket. But, you can also dip into a bucket and take out some good feelings. You dip into a bucket when you make fun of someone, when you say or do mean things, or even when you ignore someone. That's bucket dipping. Bullying is bucket dipping. When you hurt others, you dip into their bucket. You will dip into your own bucket, too. Many people who dip have an empty bucket. They may think they can fill their own, but by dipping into someone else's... That will never work. You never fill your own bucket when you dip into somebody else's. But guess what? When you fill someone's bucket, you fill your own bucket, too! You feel good when you help others feel good. All day long, we are either filling up or dipping into each other's buckets by what we say and what we do. Try to fill a bucket and see what happens. You love your mom and dad. Why not tell them you love them? You can even tell them why. Your caring words will fill their buckets with joy. Watch for smiles to light up their faces. You will feel like smiling. A smile is a good clue that you have filled a bucket. If you practise, you'll become a great bucket filler. Just remember that everyone carries around an invisible bucket. Show me yours, and think of what you can say or do to fill it. Here are some ideas for you. You could smile and say "Hi!" to the bus driver. He has a bucket, too. You could invite the new child at school to play with you. You could write a thank-you card for your teacher. You could tell your grandpa that you like spending time with him. There are many ways to fill a bucket. Bucket filling is fun and easy to do. It doesn't matter how young or how old you are. It doesn't cost money. It doesn't take much time. And remember, when you fill someone else's bucket, you fill your own bucket, too. When you're a bucket filler, you make your home, your school and your neighbourhood better places for all. Bucket filling makes everyone feel good. So, why not decide to be a bucket filler today and every day? Just start each day by saying to yourself, "I'm going to do something to fill someone's bucket today." And at the end of each day, ask yourself, "Did I fill a bucket today?" "Yes, I did!" That's the life of a bucket filler. And that's you! Now, in this story, if you were unkind to someone that was called bucket... Was it bucket filling or bucket dipping? I can't remember. Oh, that's right, it was called bucket dipping. That means you're taking away from someone's bucket by being unkind. What kind of things do you think might be bucket dipping? Have a think. That's right, maybe if you leave somebody out, make them feel left out, that's bucket dipping, isn't it? What about if you say or do unkind things? That's definitely bucket dipping. On our next video, there is someone being kind to somebody else. Let's have a look and see if it's bucket filling or bucket dipping.

That's a really lovely video, isn't it? So in this video, Abubakar decided to help Rehma with her cutting. She was struggling at first, but then he helped her and look how happy they both are. It's cool to be kind, isn't it. And do you think that is bucket filling or bucket dipping? That's right, it's filling, isn't it? Both of them have done something kind for each other so they will both fill their buckets. Your task today is to create a little bucket of kindness. Just like the ones in the story. First, you're going to draw your bucket and make it as colourful as you can. Then you're going to add some kindness. How could you fill other people's buckets? What would you say or do if you saw someone being unkind? Then you're going to decorate it with photographs, pictures, or colour. First, draw a bucket just like I have done. Pause the video and do that now. Then think about all the things that you could do to fill other people's buckets with kindness. You could smile, say kind words, you can offer to help somebody if they need it, or you could just be friendly. Pause the video and have a go. Amazing! Now you can decorate your bucket and make it as colourful as you can. You've been amazing today, well done!
