Today, we are going to be exploring and discussing time and the seasons. Now, what day is it today? If it was a Friday today, what day would it have been yesterday? Well, it would have been Thursday yesterday. What if it was Tuesday today, then it would have been, Monday yesterday. All right, have a think for a minute, what day is it today and what day would it have been yesterday? Great job everyone. Now, I think we're all set and ready for this lesson. We don't need to grab any items for this lesson. You can find everything you need in the worksheets or the resources. All right, let's get started everyone. All right, now do you know all the days of the week? How many days of the week are there? There are seven, you might not have known that. Let's go through them together, and I'll say you say and we're going to say them in order. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Now, we can sing a little bit of a days of the week song to help us remember, would you like to learn it? Oh, I thought you would. Okay, so this is how it goes, and then maybe you can join in and sing with me. You've got to do some clapping along the way as well. Alright, we're going to look at some other aspects of time now. Take a look at this picture. what time of day, do you think this picture takes place? What do you see in the picture that might tell you what time it is? That's right, there's a clock that might tell us the time. What other clues might there be to tell us the time? Well, if you look out the window, is there a way we could tell if it's daytime or evening? That's right, it doesn't look very dark outside. So that might tell us it's daytime still. Now, I wonder if there's any clues in the picture that might tell us what time of the year this picture takes place. Have a look, pause the video if you want to take a closer look to find some clues. Well, if you've noticed all the snow outside, that might give us a good clue as to what type time of the year it might be. That's right, it's probably wintertime if there's snow on the ground, it's probably winter. Now, did you see anything hanging up on the wall? If you said yes, there is a calendar on the wall, and it says December on it. So that also helps us see what time of the year it is. So the calendar can help us keep track of what day it is throughout the year and the months. So we know that this picture must be taking place in winter. Winter is the name of a season. Do you know how many seasons there are? There are four of them. That's right, we're going to go through them together. All right, we want you to have a go at this Talk Task. So there's not just one winter picture, there are four pictures to represent the four seasons. We'd like to know what you know about the seasons already, what their names are. And we want you to have a close look and make a guess as to which pictures is which season. So you might use some of the sentences, I think this picture is spring because it has, what in the picture might tell you it's spring? Look at the calendar, what month is it? Does that help and give you a clue? What about the weather outside in the window, does that help to give us some clues as well? What time of day might it be in the picture? Maybe outside it can tell you some clues. All right, pause the video, have a go at seeing if you can guess which picture represents each season and we'll come back together. All right, well, hopefully those pictures gave me some good clues about the different seasons. So let's go through each one in full and we can see if you were right about some of them. So we've already spoken a little bit about winter, I say you say winter. Winter in the UK takes place in December, January, and February. Now we've got some pictures on here to describe or show us what winter might look like in the UK. Sometimes we've got really wet and cold, dreary weather, but at times, we also get some snow, don't we? Can you think of anything exciting that happens over winter time? Maybe you celebrate Christmas, maybe it's just a time for you to get together with your family. Can you think of any winter sports that we might take, that we might do in the winter time? If you said ice skating or ice hockey, you're right, all of these sports take place over the winter time. After winter, do you know what season comes next? Well, if you said spring Well done, spring comes after winter. The months of spring in the UK are March, April, and may. What things remind you of springtime in the UK? Well, for me, I know that flowers always remind me of springtime, because after the winter, all of the blossoms and all the flowers start to grow on the trees and in the ground. Does that remind you of it as well? Well, let's look at some pictures. So, in the springtime, there's lots of new life, new flowers, new animals, all the bees come out and the plants all blossom and grow. So this reminds us of springtime, the weather gets a little bit nicer and it's not as chilly as it was in the wintertime. Can you think of anything special that happens at springtime? Well, maybe you celebrate Easter with your family and Easter always happens in the spring. There's also things like Mother's Day and lots of other events that maybe you celebrate as well. All right, what comes after spring? This is my favourite season. I wonder if it's one of your favourites as well. Summer comes after spring. If you said that, well done. So summer falls in in the UK in the months of June, July and August. How might we know it's summertime? What might tell us that it's summertime outside? Well, if you said that the sun might be shining more, it might be hotter than it was in the springtime, the days are longer, you're so right. Those are all things that happen in the summertime. So maybe in the summertime you've gone to the seaside before. Have you been to the seaside before? Maybe you just got to go play outside in a park when it was really nice weather. So lots of people like to go and cool down a bit when it's really hot in the summertime. And then finally, I wonder what is the fourth and last season, what happens after the summer? If you said autumn, way to go. Autumn comes after summer, the months of autumn fall in the UK in September, October and November. What things remind you of the autumn? Well, I know for me it's always about the leafs turning beautiful colours of orange, and red and yellow before they fall off the trees. The trees are getting ready to go into winter time again. So in autumn, we've got harvesting happening in the fields. All of the crops and all of the food are coming off of the fields. And we've also got all of the leaves falling off the trees getting ready for the winter time. And we know that after autumn, that's when winter comes again. So the seasons come in a cycle, they go through once they get to the end of autumn, then it's always going to go back to winter again and the cycle continues through the four of them. All right, I think Herald we should test them to see if they know what kind of clothes you might wear in each season or how you might look ready for a season. All right, are you ready? We're going to get ready for one of the seasons and you you can try and guess what season we're trying to show you, are you ready? All right, so Herald and I we're ready for this season. We both got our shades on, He's got the sun cream because it's just so hot and we think we're going to go to the seaside. Do you know what season that we might be ready for? That's right, we're so ready for summertime, well done. Shall we try another one? Are you ready? Oh, it's so cold outside. It's a good thing Herald has some fur to keep him warm, but I need my scarf to keep me warm. I wonder if you can guess what season that we're in now. Well done, we're trying to show you winter time. Fantastic because we're wearing a scarf, it's too chilly to go outside. Well, we sure enjoyed having you guess which season we were addressed for. But now it's time for you to do your Main Task. You can find this season wheel in the resources. What we would like you to do ,is to pick one of the seasons and tell us everything that you know about it. So what months of the year come in that season? What happens outside during that season? What is the weather like? What are some activities that happened during that season? Maybe, what special events might happen during that season? So pick one or two seasons and have a go at talking about each of those out loud, and then we'll come back together. Well, what season did you talk about everyone? What special events were going on in that season? What was the weather like? We're going to leave you today with our summer gear.
