Can you show me five fingers? Great. Can you show me seven fingers? Fantastic. Can you show me, using your fingers, what is one less than four? Can you show me one less than four using your fingers? Great. Can you show me one less than nine using your fingers? Amazing. And finally, can you show me one more than seven using your fingers? Great, amazing. Well done, everyone. Give yourselves a pat on the back. Do you know, I was just getting ready to have my snack. I made it a little bit earlier. Do you want to see what I'm having? Take a look. Here we are. I've got a small bowl here with one, two strawberries in it. And that is just enough for me. Oh, who have we got here? It's Reggie. Can you say, "Hello, Reggie"? Reggie says, "Hello everyone." Oh, Reggie, it looks like you've got something there. What have you got? Oh, Reggie says he's brought me a little snack. Two strawberries. Thank you, Reggie. I was just getting ready to have some strawberries. Now I've got two more. Let's see how many I'll have all together. So I've got two strawberries here, and I can find out how many I'll have by adding on. Two, three, four. Now I've got four strawberries. Thank you very much, Reggie. That was great. Now, for today's learning, we are going to be exploring addition by adding on. And here's what you'll need. You'll need 10 small objects. Press pause now to go and get those objects. And I'll see you in a bit when you're ready. Welcome back, everyone. Now that you've got your 10 small objects for counting, you are ready for today's lesson. Let's take a look at our star words. I'm going to say them, and you can say them after me. Are you ready? Plus, is equal to, first, then, and now. Those are our star words for today. Now let's take a look at this picture. Some of you might have seen it already. We can use this picture to help us with our adding on. Let's take a look at this train. This train has six people in it. We can count them in pairs, two, four, six. This green carriage has six people in it. This blue carriage has one, two, three people in it. Six plus three is equal to, shout out the answer. Nine. Six, seven, eight, nine. There we are. Now let's take a look at the wheels on the train. We can count them. One, two, three. There are three wheels in the first part of the train. Then there are one, two, three, four wheels in the carriage. Let's have a look at the second train. It has the same amount of wheels as the first train. One, two, three wheels in the driver's part of the train. And one, two, three, four wheels in the carriage. Let's do some maths. Three plus four is equal to, shout out the answer if you know it. Seven, we can count on. Three, four, five, six, seven. Three plus four is equal to seven. If this train has the same amount of wheels, we know that we can double the amount of wheels of the first train. Double seven is equal to, shout out the answer if you know it. 14, let's check. Seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14. Great adding on, everybody. Now let's take a look at another picture that I have. Here we are. I'm sure you know what this is. Can you shout out what it is? Great, it's a bus. Let's take a look. We've got some passengers getting on the bus. I wonder if you can count them as they go on. Can you count them? How many passengers are on the bus? Let's count them together. One, two, three, four. There are four passengers on the bus. Some more passengers are going to get on. Let's take a look and see how many are going to get on the bus to join them. How many passengers join the other ones on the bus? Two. We can say that as a number story. Are you ready? First, there were four passengers. Then two more passengers joined them on the bus. How many passengers are there all together? Shout your answer out to the screen if you know. Let's take a look. We can do that again. So first, there were one, two, three, four passengers. Then two passengers joined them on the bus. And now there are one, two, three, four, five, six passengers on the bus. Well done, everybody. Great counting. Now let's take a look at how many passengers are on the bus now. Keep your eyes peeled because I think some more are going to join. There we are. How many passengers joined the bus? Shout your answer out to the screen if you know. Great, one passenger joined the bus. So we can say that as our number sentence. Are you ready? First there were, how many passengers? Six, great. First there were six passengers. Then one more passenger joined the bus. And now there are seven passengers. First there were six passengers. One more passenger joined the bus. And now there are seven passengers on the bus. Great job, everyone. Oh, this bus is filling up now, isn't it? Keep your eyes peeled 'cause I think some more passengers might join the bus. Take a look. There we are. How many passengers did you see joining the bus? Shout your answer out to the screen if you know. Great, two. Two passengers joined the bus, and here they are. Let's see if we can say that as our number sentence. So first there were seven passengers. Two passengers joined the bus. And now there are, how many passengers? Shout your answer out. Nine, well done. Now there are nine passengers on the bus. Great job, everybody. Give yourselves two claps for great joining in. Now you can practise doing your own number stories using your objects in your container. Count out three objects. Then see what happens if you add two more. How many objects do you have now? Can you say it in a number sentence? Practise doing that. And then practise with other numbers too.
