﻿Hi, I'm Miss Davis, in this lesson, we're going to be expanding more than two binomials. This means that we're expanding more than two brackets. In this first example, we've been asked to expand and simplify these three brackets. Let's start by expanding x plus one and x plus two. I'm going to use grid method to do this. We'll start by multiplying x by x, which is x-squared. Then one multiplied by x, which is add x, x multiplied by positive two is positive 2x, and finally one multiplied by two, which is add 2. These simplifies to x squared add 3x, add two. We can then multiply these by x add three X squared multiplied by x is x cubed, x multiplied by 3x is positive 3x squared, x multiplied by two is 2x. X squared multiplied by three is 3x squared, three multiplied by 3x is positive 9x and three multiplied by two is six. These simplifies 2x cubed add 6x squared, add 11x, add six. If we are asked to expand and simplify x add one cubed, we can write this as x add one multiplied by x add one multiplied by x add one What we can then expand this in the same way we just have. This question, we are expanding and simplifying x plus one squared, multiplied by x plus two. This can be written as x plus one, multiplied by x add one, multiplied by x add two. This next example, we have got an expansion that needs to be done and another expansion that needs to be done. Firstly, you need to expand both sets of brackets. Then you can add these together.
