Lesson overview:Chemical formulae and conservation of mass
- Interpret chemical formulae
- Apply conservation of mass to equations
- Interpret chemical formulae
- Apply conservation of mass to equations
The law of conservation of mass states that mass is neither created nor destroyed in chemical reactions. A chemical formulae is a set of chemical symbols showing the elements present in a compounds and their relative proportions. A balanced equation is one in which the number of atoms of each element in the reaction are the same for both the reactants and products.
